XLC Cotterless Bicycle Crank Arm Remover Tool for Square Taper Bottom BracketsDescription
New XLC Cotterless Crank Arm Remover Tool for Square Taper Bicycle Bottom Brackets.
Product Information:
Helps to remove bicycle crank arms from bikes with square taper bottom brackets
Tightens onto the threads on the bottom bracket with a 15mm hex wrench
The extracting cylinder may engaged with either the same 15mm hex wrench used to tighten the tool onto the bottom bracket, or with a 8mm hex at the end of the extracting cylinder
Basic Usage Instructions & Tips:
First remove the crank arm bolt
Make sure the threads on the bottom bracket are clean before threading the tool onto the bottom bracket so the tool may be easily and properly threaded on to the bottom bracket
Avoid cross threading the tool on to the bottom bracket, which will damage the bottom bracket threads and probably make removing the tool when done much more difficult
A light coating of lube on the bottom bracket threads can make it easier to use the tool and take it off the bottom bracket when done
Hand thread the tool on to the bottom bracket as far as it can go, then carefully tighten it a bit further with a 15mm flat wrench so it is firmly coupled. Be careful not to overtighten it.
Once coupled, the extracting cylinder should be tightened (turned clockwise), which presses on the spindle while applying outward pressure on the crank until they are separated. A second 15mm wrench may be used to activate the extracting cylinder during this process, or a 8mm hex wrench may used instead to do the same thing.
Once the crank arm is separated from the bottom bracket the tool may loosened (turned counter-clockwise) from the bottom bracket for use on the other side of the crank
